Founded in 1973, The Islamic Center of Seattle, also known as the South Seattle Islamic Center, has a rich history tracing back to the early 1960s when two Boeing employees of different backgrounds noticed each other skipping lunch during Ramadan. What started as social visits between families soon grew into a vibrant Muslim community that recognized the need for a mosque. Today, located at 3040 South 150th Street in Seattle, the mosque offers a welcoming and diverse environment for prayer, learning about Islam, and connecting with fellow Muslims from various racial and ethnic backgrounds. With English services, adequate restrooms, and parking available, this mosque emphasizes unity and community engagement.

Founded in 1973, The South Seattle Islamic Center had its origins in the early 1960s with two Boeing employees, one an Iraqi and one a Pakistani, who noticed each other skipping lunch during the Muslim celebration of Ramadan. Social visits between families grew into a Muslim community which saw the need for a mosque. The families saved $100 a month toward a down payment on a two story house at 3040 S 150th Street in what would become the city of Sea-Tac. Today, the mosque has outgrown its facilities like others in the Seattle area, and neighbouring mosques are being planned.

Friendly, welcoming and helpful masjid staff. Quality speeches (in English so everyone can understand, alhamdulillah!). There's diversity in both masjid staff and the people who come to the masjid here which is nice to see fellow Muslims from different racial and ethnic backgrounds get together and unite! Subhanallah!
